How to Read a Site Plan Before You Buy
Updated
The site plan tells you what will be next to your lot. Here's what to look for before signing.
Boundaries and phases
Find the phase line. Lots near an unbuilt future phase will live next to construction longer. Confirm the plan's planning block if location matters to you.
Roads and lanes
Identify collector roads (busier) versus local streets, rear lanes, and planned connections that may not exist yet.
Easements, parks and blocks
Look for utility easements, stormwater ponds, school blocks and park blocks. 'Future development' or 'commercial' blocks may change what's built nearby.
